Spectrum Health names new leader for Ottawa, Allegan region Sentinel Staff GRAND RAPIDS  Spectrum Health has announced a new market leader for the system’s southwest region, which covers Ottawa and Allegan counties. Bill Hoefer will step into the role in early June, and will also be the new president of Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital.  “I’m already proud of the accomplishments of Zeeland Community Hospital,” Hoefer stated in a press release. “I see part of my role as helping to celebrate achievements and find new ways to maintain Zeeland Community Hospital’s standing within the community as a trusted partner in health. I’m incredibly excited to meet the team and start contributing to future successes.”

Sparta man injured in three-vehicle crash in Georgetown Township Sentinel Staff GEORGETOWN TWP. A 21-year-old Sparta man suffered non-life-threatening injuries Thursday, following a three-vehicle crash on Chicago Drive. The Ottawa County Sheriff s Office responded at 7:37 p.m. Thursday, April 8, to the intersection of Chicago Drive and Port Sheldon Street. The preliminary investigation showed a 2005 Buick was westbound on Port Sheldon Street, approaching Chicago Drive. The Buick crossed the center line, crashing into a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country. After the initial crash, the Buick then crashed head-on into a 2012 Honda, driven by the Sparta man. He was transported to Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital. 

Spectrum, Ottawa County partner for senior vaccine clinics

Did you get the COVID-19 vaccine yet? “They all want to come and see us,” Muriel said. “They keep asking, ‘When are you going to get it?’” The Cecconis, married 71 years, are pleased to tell their large extended family they have received both doses of the vaccine. Thanks to a collaborative effort, the Cecconis received the vaccines close to home at The Village at Appledorn in Holland, their independent senior living community. Shawn Pelon, a nurse with Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital, delivered their second COVID-19 vaccines Wednesday, March 3, at a clinic held in Appledorn’s dining hall. The clinic, which vaccinated more than 60 residents, is one of many hosted in Ottawa County through a partnership formed by the independent living communities, area health systems and the Ottawa County Department of Public Health.
