SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. The number of heat-related deaths in Spokane County grew over the July 4th holiday amid a historic heat wave that slammed the Northwest, bringing record-breaking temperatures to Spokane and surrounding areas.
The medical examiner wrote on its website Tuesday afternoon that there are 15 deaths wherein circumstances suggest they may be heat-related, although autopsy results are not yet available to confirm. The medical examiner s office released this information after multiple media outlets requested information regarding deaths that may be heat-related.

SPOKANE, Wash. The Spokane County Medical Examiner has identified three victims who died from heat-related illnesses due to the heat wave.
The first person identified was 81-year-old David Bevleming, who died in the 11000 block of E. Maxwell in Spokane Valley on Thursday. The cause of his death was classified as environmental heat exposure, with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as contributing factors.
The second person was identified as 64-year-old Deana Farwell, who died in the 200 block of W. Sprague in Spokane on Thursday. Her cause of death was classified the same as Bevleming’s, as well as the same contributing factors as his.

SPOKANE, Wash. – This historic heatwave is killing people in the northwest and some of them are our neighbors. 11 people are now dead; the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office saying they’re likely heat-related.
Four more people were reported dead on Friday morning, and it’s possible that number could keep growing.
The Spokane Fire Department says it’s seeing double the number of calls this week. On average, they get about 120 a day, but during this week of the historic heatwave, they’ve been getting about 240 calls for help each day.
Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer believes many of those calls have some type of connection with the heat.
People encouraged to call for help in light of recent heat-related deaths

SPOKANE, Wash. People have been warned about the dangerous extreme heat Spokane been experiencing and now, it’s seeing the worst possible outcomes.
This afternoon, the Spokane County Medical Examiner said seven people have died of suspected heat-related illness in this heat wave.

Not much is known about them other than three were two men and woman. The woman was in her 60s, while the two men were in their 30s and 70s. Autopsies will be done to determine exactly what happened.
