SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. A man the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office arrested on May 7th for stealing a car is facing more charge. Through DNA, deputies connected the man to a robbery and shooting that happened on February 27th.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Jason McWhirk stole a man’s car from the Black Angus parking lot in Spokane Valley. As the person tried to stop McWhirk, who was not identified as the suspect at the time, deputies said McWhirk shot the man.
Deputies went after the car, but said they lost it because McWhirk was driving recklessly. The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and is now recovering at home.

Two recent domestic violence cases highlight the continued work of The Spokane Regional Domestic Violence Team in advocating for victims and holding offenders accountable.
On the evening of May 6
th, Spokane Police patrol officers located 37 year old Robert D. McCrow and arrested him for
six counts of violating a domestic violence no-contact order. McCrow had been harassing and traumatizing his victim for months while avoiding capture. Prior to his arrest, officers from the Domestic Violence Team were preparing a press release requesting public assistance in locating McCrow because of the outstanding threat he posed to his victim. Responding officers were thorough and relentless in their investigation, which ended in the arrest of McCrow who had been the subject of dozens of calls for service over the past few months.

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office confirms Sparks, Nevada Police have arrested a 17-year-old female relating to the death of 15-year-old Preston Grzogorek who was shot outside his Spokane Valley apartment on March 29.
Cpl. Mark Gregory said the juvenile suspect was arrested Saturday afternoon and will remain in Sparks Police Department custody pending extradition to Spokane County.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. Three people were injured in a crash involving a stolen vehicle in Spokane Valley Friday morning.
South Dishman Mica Rd has been closed between 8th Ave and 16th Ave for several hours as police investigate.
A release from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said the crash was reported at 10:15 a.m. A confirmed stolen vehicle was reportedly speeding before it crashed into a box truck.
The box truck driver suffered minor injuries, but the two people inside the stolen vehicle, including a 16-year-old boy, were both taken to the hospital. The Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as 31-year-old Jason D. McWhirk, a felon currently wanted on a warrant out of Kootenai County.
