Spokane Valley police are searching for a man they believe to be armed and dangerous who was last seen in the area of East Mission Avenue and North Flora Road in Spokane Valley.  Spokane County Sheriff’s Corporal Mark Gregory said the situation started out as a wellness check. When deputies made contact with the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Julian Hernandez, he lied about his name and started to flee, Gregory said. There was a short pursuit, Hernandez abandoned the car and fled, according to Gregory.

Murder suspect arrested at Balfour Park during unlawful camping patrol

Spokane Valley Police arrested a murder suspect on Wednesday afternoon while responding to two people unlawfully camping in Balfour Park. While Police were responding to two men camping underneath what appeared to be a homemade tent at Balfour Park, one of the men was identified as 27-year-old Zane C. McDonald, who has a warrant for second degree murder. He was arrested without incident. McDonald is allegedly involved with the murder of 58-year-old Anthony Plumb, who was found dead in his motorhome last April at 900 block of N. Felts. McDonald became a suspect from interviews with witnesses, cell phone data, tips from the public and and evidence found in a stolen Jeep where he was found in the driver’s seat and arrested in May.

Spokane Valley man killed after being hit by two cars on Sullivan

KXLY July 1, 2021 5:09 PM Matthew Kincanon Updated: SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. A man was killed after being struck by two cars while attempting to cross Sullivan on Wednesday night. While trying to cross the 900 block of N. Sullivan at around 10 p.m., a man reported to be in his 50s was struck by an SUV before being hit again by another car. Spokane Valley Police said he reportedly did not use a crosswalk and was crossing in the middle of the roadway. Police said he went over the center divider and walked into the southbound lanes of traffic, where he was hit by a Toyota Highlander. This propelled him into the middle lane where he was struck again by a Toyota Prius.

KXLY July 1, 2021 7:15 PM Elenee Dao SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. Every minute counts in an emergency. Getting police on scene quicker could mean the difference between a life saved and a life lost. New technology will let Spokane Valley Police and sheriff’s deputies have a faster response. Deputies and police officers will now get to hear live 911 calls as they’re happening. They can then take action immediately, something they’ve never been able to do before. The Spokane Valley Police Department is the first agency in the northwest to use the fairly new program called Live 911. Police normally get their calls and information from dispatch, which takes a minute or two to gather information to relay over to authorities.
