LINDALE, Texas A bogus shooting call led to the arrest of a convicted felon with drugs, according to the Smith County Sheriff s Office (SCSO).
On Thursday, around 3:20 a.m., Smith County Dispatch received a 911 call from a man who said a woman, identified as Amber Cook, had been shot at 15787 Hickory Drive in Lindale. The caller stated the victim’s boyfriend had shot her in the back with a shotgun and ran away from the location. He further stated the victim was in a small shed covered in vines at this location.

Executive Order GA-34 lifting the mask mandate in the state of Texas and increasing the capacity of all businesses and facilities in the state to 100%.
You should know that the mask mandate being lifted doesn’t apply to all businesses. Those that are privately owned or operating under federal orders may still require you to mask up. Here are just a few:

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division Special Agents assigned to the East Texas Anti-Gang Unit have been conducting a year-long joint investigation with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office and Tyler Police Department, DPS PIO Sgt. Jean Dark said Wednesday night.
Dark said the investigation involved several suspects who were coordinating narcotics sales using social media messaging apps. In addition to narcotics sales, the suspects are known to possess guns and to be affiliated with a criminal street gang.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Eric Cadell Gipson, 56, of Tyler, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm today before United States Magistrate Judge K. Nicole Mitchell.
According to information presented in court, on June 2, 2020, Gipson arranged for the purchase of a 9mm pistol. Six days later Gipson took possession of the firearm. Gipson, having been previously convicted of murder, robbery and theft, was prohibited by law from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.
