Detectives from the St James Police Division have arrested and charged a foreign national with illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition following an incident at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay in the parish on Sunday, March 4.
A firearm and several rounds of ammunition were also seized by the police.
The accused is 37-year-old Natasha Girvens of Tampa, Florida, USA.
Reports are that about 11:30 am during a security check, a Glock pistol, two magazines and 31 9mm cartridges were found in Girvens’ luggage.
She was arrested and charged after the find and seizure.
A date for her to appear in court is being finalised by the police.
