The NHIAA spring season enters the final stage this week with the first few postseason competitions slated and the remainder of the tournament brackets announced and ready to start Monday.

Mascenic, Conant set for opening round matchup
The Orioles and Vikings will square off for a fifth time this season on Monday, as the NHIAA’s random draw places the two rivals together for a Round One game to open play in Division III, Region Two.
Mascenic is 4-0 against Conant this spring.
The winner of Monday’s game will play at Bishop Brady in the next round – a tough draw, as the Vikings found out Friday when they traveled to Concord and lost to the Green Giants 16-8 for just their second loss of the season.

Ste. Genevieve High School starting pitcher Zach Boyer pitched well enough to win.
Teammate Aiden Meyer made sure he did with the only extra-base hit in this Mineral Area Activities Association Large School Division game at Yanks Field a 4-3 conquest for the Dragons last Wednesday.
“Zach kept pounding the strike zone for a majority of the game,” Ste. Genevieve head coach Michael McDaniel said. “He was able to keep his pitches to a minimum and give us an opportunity to win.”
Zach Boyer spread 86 pitches over a complete-game seven-inning performance, with 57 strikes. He surrendered three earned runs on seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
