AMRITSAR: As many as 216 people who arrived here from the UK in a December 22 flight will be institutionally quarantined as they might have come in contact with seven of their fellow passengers and a crew member who tested COVID-19 positive on arrival, health officials said on Thursday.

CHANDIGARH: Eight passengers travelling on London-Amritsar flight of Air India have tested positive for COVID-19 on arrival, they have been sent to the isolation facility.
Sources said 242 passengers and 10 crew members were on board the Air India flight from London that landed at 12.05 am on Tuesday at the Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport in Amritsar.
The passengers and crew members were asked to stay put at the airport for more than 12 hours until the results of their RT-PCR tests came in.
The delay in testing led to high tempers at the airport as the passengers entered into an argument with the officials. Meanwhile, their relatives waiting outside raised anti-government slogans.

Amritsar: Seven passengers and a crew member who arrived here from the UK in an Air India flight tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday.
Punjab Minister for Medical Education and Research O P Soni said those who tested positive for the infection will be quarantined.
Among the infected passengers are six men and two women, he said.
The Air India flight from London had landed at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport with 250 passengers and 22 crew members at 12.30 am last night.
