BDJS meet today to discuss course of action
The emphatic defeat suffered by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Assembly polls is set to deepen the schism between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS).
BDJS sources said party president Thushar Vellappally was giving serious thought about resigning from his position as State NDA convener in protest against the BJP’s “one-upmanship attitude”.
The party’s State council meeting to be held on Wednesday would take a final call on resignation and whether to continue in the NDA, said a senior BDJS leader.
The BDJS, considered the political arm of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, which contested in 21 seats in the Assembly polls had drawn a blank. The party’s vote share, compared to the 2016 Assembly polls, has plummeted this time.
‘They showed ingratitude after gaining all benefits from LDF govt.’
Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan on Monday lashed out at the Nair Service Society (NSS) and the Congress party.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Natesan said after gaining all kinds of benefits, including reservation in government jobs and educational institutions, the NSS and other religious forces stabbed on the chest of the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) government.
He said the NSS had lost its significance. “I have not received any personal privileges from the government. I have also not made my children and their spouses Syndicate members,” Mr. Natesan said in a veiled attack on NSS general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair.

God, the Supreme Being, reigns in every human heart. Yet to approach Him physically stood denied to sizeable numbers all over India who were constrained within the orbit of Avarnas (as against the Savarnas) cruelly and contemptuously labelled as ‘untouchables’. Progressive Travancore with much to its credit was unfortunately no exception in this case.
