UDUPI: The feud over the collection of funds for Ram Temple in Ayodhya between former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra continued for the second day on Wednesday.
If Kumaraswamy had likened the fund collection drive to a ‘Nazi’ style profiling of donors on Tuesday, the former CM on Wednesday hit back at those who questioned his stand, evoking an equally strong response from the Trust.
Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha swamiji, seer of Pejavar mutt, and a trustee of SRJTK said, “The Trust is not just any benami organisation. It is a registered organisation that has been set up as per rules governing its formation. The law of the land makes it clear about the powers that the Trust has to mobilise funds from the public. The Constitution has granted the Trust powers (to collect funds) and the fund collection drive is going on constitutionally, he said.
HD Kumaraswamy alleges homes of those not donating for Ram Mandir being marked
Hitting hard on the transparency of funds being mobilized for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, former Karnataka Chief Minister has said that he would have contributed to the drive if the temple was constructed anywhere else but since the Hindu shrine for Lord Rama will be built on a disputed land he will not be a part of the donation.
Expressing his discontent, the Congress leader questioned, These people have collected the money, but have they (RSS) furnished accounts? further citing a past example that the donations had even then remained unaccounted for when bricks were being collected for the Ram temple earlier.
UDUPI: The nationwide fund collection drive launched by Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra (SRJTK), a trust set up by the union government for construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya has netted Rs 1000 crore as on date. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in coordination with the above Trust on January 15 had started off the massive one and a half month long donation drive and this thus far has yielded the above amount.
Announcing this on Tuesday, Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha, seer of Pejavar Adhokshaja mutt, also a trustee of the SRJTK said, “I am extremely happy with response of the people in South India which I toured extensively in connection with the fund raiser.” People of all sections of society have contributed enthusiastically for this project, he said adding the fund raiser has been an important development in organising the entire Hindu community.
