By Advertiser Reporter A WALCOT man was fined £300 after he admitted assault by beating. Shaun Edwards, 29, had been due to stand trial at Swindon Crown Court on Monday to allegations of causing actual bodily harm to a woman in early 2020 and criminal damage. However, the prosecution offered no evidence on the more serious assault charge and the criminal damage matter after Edwards, of Jonson Close, admitted assault by beating. He was fined £300. Formal not guilty verdicts were recorded for the other charges by judge Recorder James Watson QC.

Swindon Crown Court A woman was said to have been “groomed” into sending a man child sex abuse images. Alona Wickham’s barrister, John Dyer, said the 51-year-old had been at a “very low ebb” when she met the man online. He had asked her to send images of her daughter, it was claimed. She had instead sent indecent images of children that she found online. Appearing before Swindon Crown Court on Friday, Wickham, of Yatton Keynell, near Chippenham, pleaded guilty to possession and distribution of indecent images of children in categories A, B and C. She also admitted having extreme pornographic images showing sex between people and animals.
