Swinburne University of Technology has launched the first phase of its 360-degree initiative, that shows its commitment to providing real industry experience and supporting students to get jobs, in a new campaign via Deloitte Digital, that gives employers direct digital contact with some of its high-achieving recent graduates.
As part of the campaign, the traditional seal on the Swinburne degree is replaced with a unique QR marker. Potential employers can scan the QR code to access the graduates’ LinkedIn profiles, giving them insight into the graduate’s qualifications and experiences, and allowing direct contact with them.

Milky Way no freak accident, astronomers say Detailed study by University of Sydney astronomers of a galaxy 320 million light years away reveals striking similarities to our own home.

The first detailed cross-section of a galaxy broadly similar to the Milky Way, published today, reveals that our galaxy evolved gradually, instead of being the result of a violent mash-up. The finding throws the origin story of our home into doubt.
The galaxy, dubbed UGC 10738, turns out to have distinct ‘thick’ and ‘thin’ discs similar to those of the Milky Way. This suggests, contrary to previous theories, that such structures are not the result of a rare long-ago collision with a smaller galaxy. They appear to be the product of more peaceful change.

actively sought and
actively communicated. This approach shifts from a “no means no” standard to “yes means yes”, in that an individual seeking to have sex with another person must obtain clear, expressed consent from them before (and while) engaging in a sexual act.
In other words, submission without active, participatory agreement is not sufficient to claim that consent was given. In practice, this could be something as simple as asking someone if they want to have sex.
This type of consent standard shifts the emphasis from the actions of the victim-survivor to those of the accused. This is important, since we know that the same rape myths and gendered stereotypes that permeate society can be brought sharply to bear in sexual assault trials.
