CALUMET TOWNSHIP, MI The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the break-in of a camp in Calumet Township.
Deputies say someone broke glass on the front door of the house on Lakeshore drive. Numerous items were stolen, including several long guns, a pistol, fishing poles and tackle, a compound bow, about 30 pounds of agate rocks, and old coins.
Officials say the break-in happened sometime between 4 p.m. Sunday and Monday, when the owner returned to the camp.
Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to call the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office at 906-482-0055.

On Friday UPSET detectives, troopers from the Calumet Post and Houghton County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Joseph Julio, 30, of Hancock on five counts of delivery of meth. He remains lodged in the Houghton County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
Officers also arrested a 35-year-old woman from Hubbell on three counts of delivery of meth. The suspect posted a $10,000 bond and will be arraigned in Houghton County District Court on March 25.
Police say the two were caught during an investigation of the distribution of meth in Baraga, Houghton and Keweenaw counties.

HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI An Ohio snowmobiler was killed when he drove in front of a vehicle in Houghton County Friday.
Sheriff’s deputies responded around 3:45 p.m. to US-41 and Trail #17 north of Calumet. They say a snowmobile driven by a 49-year-old man from Ohio crossed into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Ahmeek woman.
The snowmobile driver was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital but died of his injuries.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
