The professional footballer is speaking at the launch of his latest project to fight food poverty. At just 23, he’s already successfully campaigned for the extension of free school meals in the school holidays, plus secured better food vouchers for young, low-income families. And he’s not stopping there.

When Jess Phillips read out a list of 118 women killed by men in the past year in the House of Commons, artist Henny Beaumont only recognised one name: Sarah Everard.
Like women across the country, Beaumont felt deeply moved by Everard’s story, but was “shocked and saddened” to realise there were many victims she didn’t know on the list, which was read out during the International Women’s Day debate in March.
Beaumont then listened to Mina Smallman talk about how little public outrage there had been over the murders of her two Black daughters – Nicole Smallman, 27, and Bibaa Henry, 46 – in June 2020.

Attacking “Tory sleaze” will not win the next election for Labour alone and Keir Starmer needs to go on the attack against Boris Johnson, Lord Mandelson has said.
The party grandee told HuffPost UK’s Commons People podcast that while Labour’s local election attacks around “cronyism” and the lobbying scandal will “loosen and crumble” Tory support, it will not be enough to win nationally in 2024.

Les McKeown, Former Bay City Rollers Singer, Dead At 65
The former teen idol sang the lead on the No. 1 hit, Saturday Night, as well as I Only Want To Be With You and You Made Me Believe In Magic.
Les McKeown, who became a teen idol in the mid-to-late 1970s as the lead singer for the Bay City Rollers, has died at the age of 65.
McKeown died suddenly at home on Tuesday, according to a post on his Twitter account, but the cause of death was not announced.
McKeown joined the Bay City Rollers in 1973 after the band had started making appearances on the British pop charts, and quickly became popular with the group’s fans.

Hangovers get better with age, according to a new study – and it’s the most baffling thing we’ve read in a while.
The study invited 761 Dutch alcohol consumers aged 18-94 to document their booze consumption, alongside their experience of hangovers, via an online survey.
The study, conducted by Utrecht University in the Netherlands, concluded that “hangover severity declines with age”, even after considering estimated blood alcohol concentration, or the amount of alcohol consumed.
Those of us over the age of 25 would have to respectfully, but firmly, disagree – especially considering the headaches we’ve endured after our first week back at the pub post-lockdown.
