Austin police on Wednesday identified a pedestrian killed earlier this month in city traffic as 21-year-old Connor Avery Hughes.
A preliminary police investigation found that Hughes was struck by a blue Chevrolet Cruze as he tried to cross the middle of the 4000 block of Airport Boulevard just before 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 9.
Austin-Travis County EMS medics took Hughes to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he died on Jan. 11. He had just turned 21 on Jan. 5.
Police said the driver of the Cruze, who remained at the scene where Hughes was hit, showed no signs of impairment. Investigators do not think excessive speed was a factor, police said, and no criminal charges are expected.
