A Union City landlord was arrested after authorities say he unlawfully evicted a tenant earlier this month and removed all of her belongings while she was out of the country.
Ron Bello, president of the real estate management company that owns a multi-family home at 508 Bergenline Ave., was charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and unlawful eviction, Union City spokeswoman Erin Knoedler said.
“No one deserves to be evicted without proper notice, have a building owner or landlord enter their apartment without their knowledge and have all of their possessions removed,” said Mayor Brian P. Stack, who filed an order to show cause a demand of a judge for a party to justify their actions against Bello on behalf of tenant Milka Camposano.

On February 8th, BMC Hospital voluntarily withdrew a case filed in the Chancery Division of Hudson County Superior Court, which according to HRH, is the latest set of circumstances that have gone their way.
In December, they announced they were terminating CarePoint Health’s lease at the Bayonne Medical Center, about a month after the New Jersey Department of Health told CarePoint that they would have to identify 100 percent of their ownership to complete their certificate of need application.
“As we have asserted frequently during this process, Hudson Regional stands ready to assume operations at Bayonne at a moment’s notice,” HRH President and CEO Dr. Nizar Kifaieh said in a statement.
Appellate panel upholds Jersey City payroll tax
Updated Feb 19, 2021;
Jersey City’s 1% payroll tax is constitutional and does not place an undue burden on businesses in the city, a state appellate panel ruled Tuesday.
The special payroll tax, on Jersey City businesses or out-of-city firms that employ people in Jersey City, was enacted in 2019 and dedicated for school purposes after the state announced it would make drastic cuts to the city’s public school district.
“Today’s decision was a win for all Jersey City educators, parents, taxpayers, and students,” city Board of Education President Mussab Ali said. “However, it highlights the extraordinary circumstances faced by the Jersey City school district.”

“Defendant’s second and third arguments concern monetary aspects of the sentence imposed. He argues that the judge erred in imposing a $500 Sex Crime Victim Treatment Fund penalty … without considering defendant’s ability to pay or the nature of the offense and without providing a reason for his determination,” Superior Court of New Jersey Appellate Division Judges Clarkson Fisher and Richard Gilson wrote in today’s opinion.
