Hudson Reporter Hudson County launches mobile vaccination unit × Hudson County launched a new mobile vaccination unit that will serve as a popup clinic in neighborhoods throughout the county. This new resource will allow the Hudson County Vaccine Task Force to bring the COVID-19 vaccine directly to hard-to-reach communities and host onsite vaccination clinics for local businesses and organizations. The unit is a small passenger bus that has been repurposed and outfitted to administer vaccines in the back of the vehicle. “After a long and difficult 15 months, we are finally turning the corner and getting closer every day to ending this pandemic,” said Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise. “But we need to make it abundantly clear that the progress we have made is the direct result of our aggressive vaccination efforts. The new dining and catering facility, on the southeastern side of Lincoln  Park, replaces the former Casino in the Park which opened in 1950 and closed in 2017. Envisioned and used as a clubhouse for the tennis courts, and then a summer museum, the Casino in the Park has been used for thousands of political events and wedding celebrations. In 1963, Frank Sinatra attended his parents’ 50th wedding anniversary celebration at Casino in the Park. In 1991, the Hudson County Democratic Organization hosted then Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton.

Hudson County will open its vaccination center in Kearny on Saturday, May 15, to administer the Pfizer vaccine to anyone 12 or older who lives, works, or studies in Hudson County. The decision to add an additional vaccination day this week comes after federal guidelines were updated to allow children as young as 12 to receive the vaccine. Saturday allows the children to get vaccinated without missing school. The site at 110 Hackensack Ave. in Kearny currently has 150 appointments open between 9:30 and 11 a.m. on Saturday and an additional 1,200 Pfizer doses available on Monday, May 17.
