Jersey City man must do 30 years in prison for murder and sexual assault ×
Cano was found dead in Lincoln Park.
Judge Patrick Arre has sentenced Jersey City resident Jorge Rios, 35, to 30 years in New Jersey state prison for the March 24, 2019, murder and sexual assault of Carolina Cano, 45.
According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, Shortly after 7:30 a.m., on March 24, 2019, the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible body found in Lincoln Park in Jersey City.
Officers found the body of Cano, a Jersey City resident, in the lake in Lincoln Park.
Cano was pronounced dead at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Earlier today, Hudson County Superior Court Judge Patrick J. Arre, sentenced Jorge A. Rios,
35, of Jersey City, to 30 years in New Jersey state prison for the murder and sexual assault of Carolina Cano which occurred on March 24th, 2019 in Jersey City’s Lincoln Park, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.
Arre sentenced Rios to 30 years for the first-degree murder charge, which carries a mandatory minimum of 30 years of parole ineligibility.
He also sentenced him to 10 years with a required 85 percent for the charge of aggravated sexual assault, which is to run concurrent to the 30 year sentence. Upon release, the defendant is subject to parole supervision for life and Megan’s Law.
