Hudson Reporter Fatal collision under investigation in Jersey City × The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is investigating a serious, single-vehicle motor vehicle crash that occurred just before 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28. According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, the crash occurred on Christopher Columbus Drive near the Merseles Street split in Jersey City in which the passenger in the vehicle was killed and the driver in critical condition. According to the initial investigation, the driver – a 30-year-old Jersey City man – was traveling westbound on Columbus Drive approaching the roadway split when his vehicle, a 1996 Honda Civic, struck the attenuator-protected guard rail.

BREAKING: Fatal Crash Under Investigation in Downtown Jersey City

Authorities in Hudson County are investigating the cause of a crash that fatally injured at least one victim in a section of Jersey City Sunday.  The early morning collision happened in the city s downtown at Merseles Street and Christopher Columbus Drive just before 3:30 a.m.  According to a preliminary investigation, police arrived at the scene and found the crashed vehicle with two unconscious victims inside.  Police say the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver suffered severe injuries.  The Hudson County Prosecutor s Office was notified of the fatal crash and police closed the area to traffic for the investigation.

By John Heinis/Hudson County View Yesterday, David Ceausu, age 20, of Baltimore, pleaded guilty to charges related to his involvement in the July 6th fatal hit-and-run in Secaucus that killed a 35-year-old Union City woman, Suarez said in a statement. Ceausu pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and to a motor vehicle summons for leaving the scene of an accident. The plea agreement calls for the defendant to be sentenced in the third degree range with the State recommending a sentence of five years in New Jersey State Prison to be followed by a two year driver’s license suspension.
