Asim Murrell, 42, of Jersey City, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident
causing serious bodily injury, a third-degree crime, and causing serious bodily injury while driving with a suspended license, a fourth-degree crime, County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.
On Friday, January 1st, just after 1 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of Ocean and Warner Avenues on reports of a pedestrian struck and located the victim who had sustained serious injuries.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office seeks the public’s help in locating a Jersey City man charged in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a 26-year-old woman on Jan. 1.
According to the HCPO, Asim Murrell, 42, has been charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Serious Bodily Injury, a crime of the third degree; Hindering, a crime of the third degree; and Causing Serious Bodily Injury While Driving with a Suspended License, a crime of the fourth degree.

Jersey City car fire and death under investigation ×
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a “minor” motor vehicle accident and car fire in the Jersey City Heights on the morning of Jan.27 that claimed the life of the unidentified driver.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Members of the Jersey City Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a car fire at the intersection of Hutton Street and New York Avenue at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27.
After the fire was extinguished, responding officers found an unresponsive male behind the steering wheel in a badly burned condition.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Jose Del Pilar, 38, of
West New York, on charges he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl who was known to him.
Del Pilar was arrested on Wednesday, January 20th, just after 5 p.m., at the West New York Police Headquarters located at 428 60th Street.
He is charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal sexual contact.
On January 20th, the West New York Police Department contacted the Hudson County Special Victims Unit about an alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl by an adult male family friend, later identified as Del Pilar.

Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office investigates death at correctional center ×
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and Internal Affairs Unit are investigating an inmate death at the Hudson County Correctional Center that occurred in the late evening of Monday, Jan.25.
According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 10:45 p.m., corrections officers responded to the cell of Jason Sworn, 50, after his cellmate notified them that he had fallen out of bed and was complaining of chest pains.
The corrections officers attended to Sworn and attempted to perform CPR and used a defibrillator.
The nurses at the facility, as well as the EMTs from Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, also responded.
