Reena Rose Sibayan | The Jersey Journal Facebook Share Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante will retire July 1 after more than six years at the helm of the department and a cumulative 28 years in policing, he announced Tuesday. The chief, 48, said he has “loved every second of” his time in the department and feels there is nothing left to accomplish in the position. “For the past nine years, I have not disconnected from work, not one day and my command staff knows that is not an exaggeration,” Ferrante said. “Over 3,000 days straight where every single day I spoke to my command staff and answered emails and calls.”

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit has identified the man found dead in a tarp in a wooded area off Route 440. On April 27, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the Bayonne Police Department responded to an area near the 63rd Street exit of northbound Route 440 after a body was reportedly sighted. Officers found a lifeless victim, later identified Jose Rivera, 41, of New York City. Next of kin has been notified.

Hudson Reporter Union City man arrested for alleged kidnapping, carjacking and sexual assault The alleged victim was sleeping in a running car × A Union City man, 44, has been charged and arrested for alleged kidnapping, carjacking and aggravated sexual assault of a New York woman, 26, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez. The man allegedly entered the running car she was sleeping in, drove her to North Bergen, and sexually assaulted her. Juan Gonzalez-Fuentes was charged with Kidnapping, Carjacking, Burglary, two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault and Aggravated Sexual Criminal Contact. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City just after 9:30 p.m. on April 14.
