After Gov. Kay Ivey revised the state s safer at home order this week, hospitals in North Alabama are making changes to their visitor policies.
A group of hospitals within the Huntsville Hospital Health System (HHHS) are now allowing non-COVID patients to have two guests with them.
Jennifer Barksdale said her due date is just two days away and is thankful for the changes.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The Huntsville Hospital Health System just announced new visitation guidelines for its Huntsville and Madison locations as well as Huntsville Womenâs and Children.
Beginning March 6, non COVID-19 patients are allowed to have two visitors instead of one.

To enter the facilities, guests must be at least 16-years-old with a valid ID. Guests have to check in and out and will be screened upon entering for any signs of an illness.

David Spillers, chief executive officer of the Huntsville Hospital Health System, will retire in July.
Spillers has overseen dramatic growth in the health system since becoming CEO in 2006 and has become a prominent voice in north Alabama during the coronavirus pandemic.
The hospital announced Spillers’ retirement Tuesday as well as naming Jeff Samz, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the health system, as his successor.
