A correctional officer was arrested Tuesday by the Humboldt County Drug Force following a month-long investigation into information that he was smuggling drugs into the jail. Eureka resident Ricardo Tranquilino Aguirre, 27, who had been at the job since September of 2019, resigned his position today, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reported.
According to a news release, the drug task force investigation began last month after the sheriff’s office received information that Aguirre had been bringing contraband in the facility.
The release states that evidence found since his arrest indicates he had been doing so for months and was acting alone.
On March 1, 2021, just after 1 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 4000 block of D Street, in the county’s jurisdiction of Eureka, for the report of a domestic disturbance resulting in injuries.
On Feb. 28, 2021, at about 9:20 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Emergency Communications Center was contacted by the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office regarding a stolen vehicle reportedly last seen traveling on Highway 96 toward Orleans.

A Eureka woman wanted in connection to an Elk River burglary last month has been taken into custody.
On Jan. 31, 2021, at about 1 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 9000 block of Elk River Road near Eureka for the report of a burglary.
The victims told deputies that sometime between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. that day, an unknown number of suspects reportedly entered the residence without permission, stealing electronics and jewelry. A nearby neighbor reportedly witnessed a suspicious vehicle near the residence during this timeframe and was able to provide deputies with a specific, identifying description of the vehicle.
Paso Robles Police Department
Trevon Perry, 27, of Paso Robles was found dead in a home in Riverside after being missing for over a month.
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - The Paso Robles Police Department announced that two Nevada residents have been arrested Thursday in connection to the Trevon Perry homicide case.
Both individuals reportedly face charges for being an accessory to murder.
Investigators with the police department and the SLO County District Attorney s Office traveled to Lovelock, Nevada to help local agencies arrest the two suspects.
SLO County investigators were assisted by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Pershing County Sheriff’s Office, Lovelock Police Department and the Lovelock Paiute Tribal Police Department.
