Farmers protest LIVE updates Day 28: Protesting farmer unions on Wednesday asked the government to not repeat meaningless amendments to the new agri laws that they have already rejected but come up a concrete proposal in writing for another round of talks. Addressing a press conference, a farmer leader said they were ready for talks, but the government should send a concrete proposal for that to happen. Bharatiya Kisan Union (Lok Shakti) chief Sheoraj Singh today wrote a letter in blood to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding the repeal of the three new farm laws that have stoked massive protests by farmers unions in north India.

Farmer unions to decide on Centre s offer for talks today
The All India Samyukta Kisan Morcha has set up a five-member committee to discuss the future course of the agitation against the farm laws. The members of the committee include Prem Singh Bangu (All India Kisan Federation), Harinder Singh Lakhowal and Kuldeep Singh. They will draft a reply to the Centre s fresh proposal to resume talks on the farm laws to break the deadlock.
The committee will place the draft before the 40 members of the All India Samyukta Kisan Morcha. If the members agree and consensus is formed, the draft will then be given to the government.

NEW DELHI: A country-wide strike by farmers in India has begun amid a standoff with the government over new farm laws.
Tuesday’s strike follows three rounds of inconclusive talks between the two sides over laws that farmers say are against their interests. Another round of talks is due on Wednesday (today), reports the international media.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s party alleges he has been put under house arrest after he visited the border where farmers have gathered.
“No one has been permitted to leave or enter his house,” the Aam Aadmi Party’s said in a statement. Delhi police denied the claim saying it was a general deployment to avoid any clashes. At least 15 opposition parties have backed the call for the strike. Tens of thousands of farmers have laid siege to capital Delhi for the last 12 days, choking almost all the entry points. Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, on Wednesday, approved the constitution of a new municipal body in Manesar in Gurugram district with the addition of 29 villages in its jurisdiction.
The Chief Minister announced the decision after a cabinet meeting held in Chandigarh under his chairmanship.
Presently, there are 10 municipal corporations in Haryana.
“There were 10 municipal corporations in Haryana till date. Today we have approved the constitution of a new municipal body in Manesar with the addition of 29 villages in its jurisdiction,” ANI quoted Khattar as saying.

New Delhi, Dec 23: Protesting farmer unions at Delhi border are likely to hold a meet today to decide on the Centre s fresh offer for talks on the new farm laws. The farmers deferred a decision on the government s offer even as Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar expressed the hope that unions will soon resume the dialogue .
Speaking to reporters, farmer leader Kulwant Singh Sandhu said that 32 farmer unions from Punjab held a meeting on Tuesday and discussed the next course of action. The farmer leader said that a meeting of farmer leaders from across India would be held on Wednesday where a decision on the government s talks offer will be taken.
