Question: Now that we’re finally out and about and back to seeing Asheville Tourists games, I realized last night that I haven’t seen Bobby Sax at McCormick Field this year. Can you please find out how he’s doing?
My answer: I ll be glad to. In other news, I m thinking of changing the column name to Johnny Question. It does have a ring, no?
Real answer: For you newcomers out there, Bobby Sax is a much beloved saxophonist who s been busking in and around Asheville for a couple of decades now. He often plays in front of McCormick Field on game nights and in front of Harrah s Cherokee Center Asheville on concert nights.

Asheville City Council held its annual retreat earlier this month at Harrah s Cherokee Center Asheville. The whole event was open to the public, only after a lawsuit that was filed by five media outlets - Mountain Xpress, Asheville Citizen-Times, Blue Ridge Public Radio, Carolina Public Press, and AVL Watchdog. After a Buncombe County judge ruled the entire retreat had to be open to the public, the city canceled the live stream of it, promising to post the entire video of the event to its YouTube channel a few days later. It eventually backtracked and live streamed most of the event after public feedback.

The Chattanooga Mocs fell 63-53 to ETSU today in Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville. It’s a tough finish for a program that overcame a season’s worth of change considering it did not field the same lineup in more than five straight games. This one got off to a great start leading by as much as 11-2 before the Bucs stormed back to take a 23-21 lead into the break. It was 27-all when a quick 10-0 spurt made it look like a runaway early in the second half.
