LEE â Critics and proponents of the town s proposed second retail recreational marijuana store get to have their say early next month.
The Lee Select Board on May 4 will hear the pros and cons of Forest Wilde LLC s special permit application to manufacture cannabis products and sell them at an outlet on Route 20.
The public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be a Zoom meeting. The online link to the meeting will be posted on the town s website, www.lee.ma.us.; to find it, click on public meetings/notices.
The permit is for the property that now houses the Cork N Hearth restaurant on Route 20, on the shore of Laurel Lake. The long-established eatery, sandwiched between the Lenox town beach and Lakehouse Inn, remains open for dine-in and take-out dinners Wednesday through Saturday, according to its website.

LENOX â The gathering spot âwhere everyone knows your nameâ â often compared to Cheers in the classic TV sitcom by the same name â is changing hands in about a month.
After 21 years running the Olde Heritage Tavern, proprietor John McNinch is selling the Housatonic Street building and the business.
The new owner is Ryan Salame, 27, a Sandisfield native who bought the long-term lease for Firefly Gastropub and Catering Co. from Laura Shack last fall. Firefly, which has been closed for exactly one year, after the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic, is expected to reopen in the spring.
McNinch assured Heritage customers that, under Salameâs ownership and with hands-on management by Jane Blanchard, a longtime Firefly supervisor, âthey want to keep it pretty much the same. Theyâre keeping all the staff.â
LEE â The developer for the townâs proposed second retail recreational marijuana store likely will get more time to seek a special permit to operate near the Lenox town line.
Forest Wilde LLC will submit a request to the Select Board for an extension, asking the three-member panel to hold the hearing, possibly in two months. The reason? The developer isnât done getting approvals from the Lee Planning Board.
The Select Board was expected to take up the permit request by the end of March. Now, it could be near the end of May. Select Board Chairman David Consolati said at Tuesdayâs regular board meeting that he is willing to grant the extension. The other two board members support the extension. The board granted Consolati permission to sign the request once the board receives it.
