One additional Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital patient has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19, the Hospital Authority said Wednesday. We have an 83-year old gentleman who preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19 in a medical ward at the Buddhist Hospital. For this ward, we also had a confirmed COVID-19 patient and a confirmed nurse,” Chief Manager of the authority Dr Sara Ho told a press briefing. For this particular patient, he did not stay in the same cubicle as the previously confirmed patient. This patient was therefore classified as other contact.”
The source of infection is still under investigation and it is not clear yet if there was virus transmission in the ward.
Hong Kong: 54 COVID-19 cases detected
The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 54 additional COVID-19 cases, of which 47 are locally transmitted.
Among the local cases, 13 have unknown sources of infection.
One more resident at Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Nursing Home was confirmed infected with the virus. The patient developed a fever while quarantined at AsiaWorld-Expo last night and was sent to the hospital.
Other cases involve two nurses who work at Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital and United Christian Hospital. They preliminarily tested positive for the virus yesterday.
