63 New Area Cases, One More COVID Related Death Thursday
The Adams County Health Department Thursday reported the death of another county resident from COVID related illness, a female in her 80s.
Officials also reported 22 new confirmed coronavirus cases Thursday. The Adams County case total is now 7,646, with 309 active, 29 hospitalized, one in intensive care and now 107 deaths.
The seven-day positivity rate in Adams County stands at 3.71%
Elsewhere in western Illinois, the Hancock County Health Department reported 20 new lab confirmed COVID cases since Tuesday, bringing their case total to 1,588, with 240 isolated, seven hospitalized and 32 deaths.
In Pike County, six new coronavirus cases were reported Thursday. Their case total is now 1,613, with 49 active, four hospitalized and 45 deaths.

Some counties are releasing more information about COVID-19 vaccination schedules. And financial assistance is headed to small businesses in a couple communities.
Lee County
The Lee County Health Department said people age 65 and older will now be included in the state’s Phase 1B for COVID-19 vaccinations. The phase will start next month.
The county health department said it already has a list of more than 800 people who have called with contact information and are waiting for an appointment. The department said it will schedule appointments as doses of the vaccine come in. It estimates receiving 200 doses the first week of February.
86 New Area COVID Cases, Four More Deaths Wednesday
The Adams County Health Department Wednesday reported the deaths of two more Adams County residents of COVID related illnesses, a man and woman both in their 80s.
Officials also reported 34 new confirmed cases, bringing their case count to 7,405, with 372 active, 40 hospitalized, three in ICU and now 96 deaths.
The preliminary seven-day positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests continues to fall, now at 4.16%.
Elsewhere in western Illinois, 14 new COVID cases were reported in Pike County Wednesday. Their case total now stands at 1,558, with 46 active, four hospitalized and 40 deaths.
The Hancock County Health Department reported two additional COVID related deaths, along with 12 new confirmed cases Wednesday, running their case total to 1,515, with 189 isolated, seven hospitalized and now 31 deaths.

WELLSBURG The Brooke County Commission, Tuesday, was updated on efforts to provide COVID-19 vaccine to the county’s oldest residents and encouraged residents to report littering.
Mike Bolen, administrator of the county’s health department, said with the cooperation of the Hancock County Health Department and C.H.A.N.G.E. Inc., another vaccination clinic was planned for later this week at Weir High School.
Bolen said the site was chosen because state officials require the vaccinations be held in a central location,and it is between the two counties.
Since he made the announcement, officials reported all slots for the clinic have been filled.
