On many days during this harrowing pandemic, the Daily Reporter’s Tom Russo has found himself in the middle of many of our communities’ defining moments of the year, from the first days of COVID-fueled panic-buying in March to the first injections of the vaccine in December. These moments are part of a rich tableau of our experiences COVID-related and otherwise that Tom chronicled through his lens in 2020. Offices to close for New Year’s holiday

HANCOCK COUNTY The following Hancock County offices and organizations will be closed on Friday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day:
BMV branches, the Hancock County Public Library, Hancock County government offices and the county courthouse, Greenfield City Hall, Fortville Town Hall, McCordsville Town Hall, Shirley Town Hall, Hancock County Senior Services and the Greenfield office of the Department of Children and Family Services.
The Daily Reporter offices will be closed, and the newspaper will not publish an edition on Friday.
The Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen will not be serving meals on New Year’s Day.

Hancock Arts calls for artists
HANCOCK COUNTY Hancock County Arts has put out a call for art for a Winter Wonderland Exhibit for January at the Twenty North Gallery. Exhibiting in the show is open to members only but a year-long Hancock Arts Council membership is just $35. Art from any medium should depict snow-related images. Art should be dropped off between 3 and 5 p.m. on Jan. 6 or 7 at the Twenty North Gallery, 20 N. State St. The show opens with a reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 at the gallery.
