Island Police: Reckless driver invites seven years of bad luck

No one was injured in an accident on Route 3 around 4:30 p.m. on April 20 that resulted in a damaged driver’s side mirror. A 2015 Ford Truck owned by Gott and Sons Inc. and driven by Christopher Carney, 32, was in the double lane near the Bar Harbor Airport when another truck passed him and hit the driver’s side mirror. Carney told the responding officer that the other driver did not stop.
A woman called the sheriff’s office on Friday around 4 p.m. to report what she believed to be a Facebook scam. After an officer spoke to her, he found no crime had been committed but documented the information at the woman’s request.

Distracted driver has close call with telephone pole

No one was injured in a single car accident on Route 3 around 11 a.m. on April 14. Joseph Parsons, 45, of Trenton, was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius northbound. As it neared the intersection of Jordan River Road, the car drifted off the right side of the road. When it did, it struck a curb and then a wooden fence. There was reportable damage to the front end of the Prius. No reason for the accident was stated in the report.
According to police reports, a woman was taken to the hospital around 8:45 p.m. on April 14 after the vehicle she was driving ran into a telephone pole, snapping the pole in half. Erika Sargent, 30, of Ellsworth, told police she was distracted with her cell phone when the 1999 Toyota Rav4 she was driving crossed the center line of Route 3 and went into a ditch on the opposite side of the road.
