Two high school students in Hamilton County, Indiana, died in a car crash while they were on the way to prom on Saturday evening.
Kalen Hart and Lendon Byram were en route to the Hamilton Heights High School prom at the Elite Banquet Center in Kokomo with two others when their vehicle crashed into an SUV.
Their deaths were announced in a Facebook post by Derek Arrowood, the superintendent of the Hamilton Heights School Corporation. Arrowood said all scheduled prom activities have now been canceled.
Two Students Killed in Crash on Their Way to Prom
ARCADIA, Ind. Two students were killed in a crash when they were on their way to a prom Saturday night.
Police say the crash happened around 5:15 pm near the intersection of 281st Street and Lacy Road, which is near State Road 213. One of the vehicles involved was a Honda Accord with four students in it. They collided with a medium-sized SUV.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office believe the Honda Accord was hit on the side. They have identified the two students killed in the crash as Lendon Byram of Cathedral High School and Kalen Hart of Hamilton Heights. Police say Byram was the driver and Hart was a passenger. The other two students were treated for non life-threatening injuries at a nearby hospital.

Two high school students were on their way to the Hamilton Heights prom Saturday evening when they were killed in a vehicle wreck.
The Hamilton County Sheriff s Office identified the students as Lendon Byram and Kalen Hart. Byram was driving and Hart was the front-seat passenger. Two other students in the car were injured.
Hart s Instagram page says she was a member of the Class of 2021 at Hamilton Heights. Byram was a member of the Class of 2022 at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis.
Two other high school-aged passengers in the backseat of the car were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff s Office.

ARCADIA, Ind. – An Indiana high school was scheduled to have prom on Saturday night, but just before 7 p.m. the school canceled prom after receiving news of two students who died and two others who were injured in a crash on their way to the prom, according to local NBC affiliate WTHR.
Hamilton Heights School Corporation Superintendent Derek Arrowood wrote a message to families sharing the tragic news.
