Westfield woman sentenced to 6 months in jail after being charged with dumping her newborn baby, misleading police

SPRINGFIELD A former school cafeteria worker and mother of three was sentenced to six months in jail two years after being charged with dumping her newborn baby, whose body was never found.
Shanna Sharples, of Westfield, was indicted for improper disposition of a human body and three counts of misleading police. In September, she pleaded guilty to misleading police and admitted to “facts sufficient” for a guilty finding on the improper disposal charge.
Sharples was sentenced in Hampden Superior Court on Dec. 9.
