Former Springfield police officer Daniel Cintron sentenced to 2 to 3 years for sexual assault on child Updated May 11, 2021; SPRINGFIELD - Daniel Cintron, the former Springfield police office who was convicted last month of sexual assaulting a child has been sentenced to serve between 2 and 3 years in state prison. The sentence was handed down Tuesday in Hampden Superior Court, two weeks after he was found guilty of two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under age 14, and two counts of intimidating a witness. He was found not guilty on 17 other charges. Cintron had been in custody since his arrest in 2018 on charges related to the rape and abuse of three girls between 2015 and 2018. The investigation was handled by the Special Victims units of the Hampden District Attorney and the Springfield Police, and the Chicopee Police.

It will include recommendations from Stop It Now!, an outside agency hired by the diocese to gather feedback from survivors on how their allegations could have been better handled.

A  sad ending has come to the search that has been going on since early February for the 12-year-old boy from Chicopee. On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, the Chicopee Police Department Underwater Response Team was actively conducting a search of the Chicopee and Connecticut Rivers as part of an ongoing search and recovery operation for a missing boy from Chicopee. The victim was transported to the Hampden County Medical Examiner’s Office and has been identified as Aiden Blanchard, 12, of Chicopee. This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Chicopee Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office.

On Wednesday, April 14, the Chicopee Police Department Underwater Response Team was actively conducting a search of the Chicopee and Connecticut Rivers as part of an ongoing search and recovery operation for missing 12-year-old Aiden Blanchard, said authorities in Massachusetts, in Hampden County. At 11:15 a.m., officers located a body in the water in between the North End Bridge and Memorial Bridge. The Chicopee Police Detective Bureau and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office were called to the scene.
