SPRINGFIELD Two suspects who were arrested last week in Orlando, Florida in connection with a February homicide in the city’s South End are expected to be returned soon to Springfield for arraignment.
The suspects, Fernando Massey, 23, and Quamel Batchelor, 24, both of Springfield, are charged in connection with the Feb. 26 shooting death of Robert Crochiere.
Crochiere, 18, of Springfield, was shot around 2:45 a.m. near Main and Locust streets while he was in the line at a McDonald’s drive-through window, police said.
Former Springfield police officer Daniel Cintron sentenced to 2 to 3 years for sexual assault on child

SPRINGFIELD - Daniel Cintron, the former Springfield police office who was convicted last month of sexual assaulting a child has been sentenced to serve between 2 and 3 years in state prison.
The sentence was handed down Tuesday in Hampden Superior Court, two weeks after he was found guilty of two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under age 14, and two counts of intimidating a witness. He was found not guilty on 17 other charges.
Cintron had been in custody since his arrest in 2018 on charges related to the rape and abuse of three girls between 2015 and 2018. The investigation was handled by the Special Victims units of the Hampden District Attorney and the Springfield Police, and the Chicopee Police.
