Basingstoke hospital patients can watch Euro 2020 final for free

HOSPITAL patients in Basingstoke and Andover will be able to watch the Euro 2020 final for free tonight. Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust (HFHT), which also runs Winchester hospital, has decided to give its patients free access to channels one to five from 6pm this evening, until after the football match during which England take on Italy. The decision will be good news for many patients in hospital who may have thought they would have to miss the crucial game, which will see England play in the final of a major football tournament for the first time in 55 years. Posting on social media to help spread the word, HHFT said: “We are all hoping it’s coming home this weekend, but we know some of our patients won’t be. At HHFT we are offering free access to channels 1-5 on Hospedia from 6pm on Sunday 11 July, until after the match (and England have hopefully lifted the trophy!).”

Less than 2% of hospital staff declined Covid vaccine

LESS than two per cent of hospital staff have declined to have a Covid-19 vaccine according to figures from the trust that runs Basingstoke hospital. A Freedom of Information request submitted to Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust shows that of the 8,490 staff offered a vaccine at Basingstoke, Winchester, and Andover hospitals, 160 declined to receive it representing 1.8 per cent. Various reasons were given including staff being pregnant, allergies, having recently had Covid-19, and concerns about the vaccine. Those who declined to have the vaccine because of recent infection or pregnancy, will be offered it again when “clinically appropriate”.
