(0:48) Marquette University graduate HOUSTON Deshaun Watson s attorney, Rusty Hardin, filed motions Thursday for emergency hearings on all the civil lawsuits against Watson, asking a judge to rule that lawyer Tony Buzbee has to identify all the women who filed. Two motions were granted by the Harris County District Court, with hearings scheduled for Friday at 8:45 a.m. ET and 12 p.m. ET. At least 12 cases are included in the 12 p.m. hearing.

Suit alleges woman contracted mesothelioma from handling asbestos worker s clothing

Pixabay HOUSTON The estate of a woman whose father worked with asbestos claims she contracted mesothelioma through exposure and handling of her father s clothing.  Robert Weist, individually and as personal representative of the Estate of Kathy Lynn Weist, deceased filed a complaint March 29 in Harris County District Court against Santa Fe Braun Inc., et al alleging wrongful death, negligence, misrepresentation and fraud.  According to the plaintiff s complaint, Kathy Weist s father worked extensively with asbestos from 1957 through 1977. He alleges that the clothing of Kathy Weist s father was contaminated with asbestos dust and that she was exposed to large quantities of the asbestos while handling and washing her father s clothes. The plaintiff claims that due to Kathy Weist s exposure to the asbestos, she developed mesothelioma which resulted in her death. 

Former Mesa Line Services CFO claims she is owed severance benefits

HOUSTON A former Mesa Line Services CFO is alleging the company failed to pay her severance benefits per an employment contract.  Lynn Nazareth filed a complaint March 29 in Harris County District Court against Mesa Line Services LLC alleging breach of contract.  Nazareth alleges in her complaint that she was hired to serve as Mesa Line s chief financial officer on Sept. 3, 2019, and entered into an employee agreement that included her being entitled to certain severance benefits equal to 1.5 times her base salary to be paid in monthly payments.  According to the agreement, Nazareth was to be paid severance if her employment was terminated without cause.  

Professional cleaning company worker injured after falling off ladder, sues for $1M

Pixabay HOUSTON A cleaning company worker claims she fell at least 12 feet off a ladder at a job site and suffered a broken wrist and other injuries.  Senovia Cardona filed a complaint March 29 in Harris County District Court against J&B Professional Cleaning Service LLC alleging negligence. Cardona alleges in her complaint that she was working for J&B at a job site on Limber Pines in Magnolia on May 1, 2020, and was instructed to climb an A-frame ladder to clean a 16-foot-tall window. She claims she climbed the ladder with no supervision or anyone to hold it stable and when she got about 12 feet off the ground, she fell and broke her wrist and injured her neck and back.  

Worker suffers injuries after unsecured pipe falls on top of his leg, suit alleges

Pixabay HOUSTON A Transport company is facing a suit alleging one of its drivers failed to properly secure a pipe on top of a trailer that fell onto a Texas Pipe & Supply worker s leg.  Hermenigildo Hernandez and Gloria Hernandez filed a complaint March 30 in Harris County District Court against Right-A-Way Transport & Logistics LLC alleging negligence. According to the plaintiffs complaint, Hermenigildo Hernandez was working for Texas Pipe & Supply and was unloading pipes onto trailers sent to the loading dock for pickup by Right-A-Way.   They allege that on April 5, 2019, Hernandez was part of a three-person team unloading pipes with the defendant s driver responsible for strapping the pipes atop the trailer. The plaintiffs claim that Hernandez s team was on top of the trailer readjusting a pipe that had shifted by using a forklift when one of the pipes slipped out of the strap and fell on Hernandez s lower leg.
