Treatment facility allegedly fired worker for reporting fraudulent documentation, according to lawsuit

HOUSTON A former treatment facility worker is alleging she faced threats and was fired for reporting the facility s falsification of documents and illegal practices.  Nicole Thompson filed a complaint March 29 in Harris County District Court against the Cenikor Foundation alleging retaliatory discharge. Thompson began working for Cenikor Foundation as a behavioral technician on Aug. 29, 2019, according to her complaint. She alleges that on Sept. 3, 2020, she met with Cenikor s vice president and human resource specialist and informed them several youth ran away from the facility and that she and other staff had previously been instructed to report any runaways to the police under their own drivers licenses rather than the facility.  

Deshaun Watson s lawyer seeking plaintiffs to identify themselves

Apr 8, 2021 Deshaun Watson s attorney, Rusty Hardin, has filed a motion requesting that the Harris County District Court mandate the anonymous plaintiffs suing Deshaun Watson to identify themselves. The other 20 have filed lawsuits where they are identified as Jane Doe. Hardin s motion was granted by the Harris County District Court, with the hearing scheduled for Friday at noon ET. We have said this before and we want to say it again: Deshaun did not force, coerce or intimidate anyone to do anything against their will, Hardin said in a statement. When we asked [Houston lawyer Tony] Buzbee to identify his clients weeks ago, he refused and told us to file a motion. Today we filed that motion.

Uneven surface leads to $200K trip & fall lawsuit against Wortham Center

HOUSTON – A local woman is suing the Wortham Center claiming she tripped on an “uneven surface” at the popular theater. Seeking up to $200,000 in damages, Gloria Johnson filed suit against the Wortham Center, along with the city of Houston, on April 5 in Harris County District Court. According to the lawsuit, on June 7, 2019, Johnson was entering the Wortham building when she tripped and fell on an uneven surface near the escalator and fell forward, striking her head against metal. She is accusing the defendants of negligently failing to give adequate warning to invitees. Johnson is suing for her alleged pain, mental anguish, impairment and lost wages.

Latest suit against Deshaun Watson alleges QB wanted deeper buttock massage

Buzbee HOUSTON – It’s a Monday, which means a new lawsuit accusing Deshaun Watson of sexual harassment has been filed. Seeking damages for her mental anguish, “Jane Doe” filed suit against Watson on April 5 in Harris County District Court. According to the lawsuit, Watson contacted Doe, a licensed esthetician, through Instagram on Nov. 9 wanting a massage. During the session, Doe found Watson lying face down on her table with only a “wash cloth covering his butt.” Once Doe “collected herself,” she started massaging Watson’s calves and worked her way up. “When Plaintiff reached Watson’s buttock area, he repeatedly asked her to apply more pressure,” the suit states. “Because of the strange behavior, Plaintiff became uncomfortable, as her thumbs were rubbing immediately adjacent to Watson’s anus, and he continued to ask for her to go deeper.

$1M suit alleges man was shot 5 times at hotel

HOUSTON – A Louisiana man is alleging he was shot five times at a hotel. Seeking more than $1 million in damages, Jason Robbins filed suit against Hospitality Headquarters and Landry’s Inc. on April 5 in Harris County District Court. According to the lawsuit, on May 24, 2020, Robbins was a guest at the Post Oak Hotel in Houston. While leaving the hotel at 5:30 am, he was shot five times. The suit does not share any further details of the incident but does accuse the defendants of negligently failing to maintain a safe environment. Johnson is suing for his mental anguish, impairment, disfigurement and loss of enjoyment of life.
