“You kind of wonder what goes through someone’s mind when they assault someone simply because of their ethnicity,” said Ruben Perez, the Special Crimes Bureau Chief for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
The incident happened Wednesday at a bus stop on Veterans Memorial Drive when authorities say Burdick refused to get off of a bus.
According to prosecutors, what followed was a violent confrontation.
“He slapped the bus driver. The bus driver then reports him. The police come then he spits on the police officer. He then spits on the detention officer,” Perez said.

Woman admits to stabbing man to death after he assaulted her, police said

The stabbing was reported Tuesday around 5 a.m. in the 4000 block of Watonga Boulevard.
Police said officers responded to the apartment and were met by the 20-year-old woman who told them that she was assaulted by 22-year-old Trevion Jones. Police said the woman claimed Jones choked and hit her in the head.
Police said the woman reported grabbing a knife and stabbing him. Police said Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators learned the woman and Jones had a previous dating relationship. Police said the woman was questioned and released after investigators consulted with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and determined the incident would be referred to a grand jury for review.
