On October 29, 2020, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania set a new precedent by holding that Pennsylvania’s Medical Marijuana Act (MMA) did not safeguard a medical student from her college’s zero-tolerance drug policy. The court ultimately determined that the MMA did not require a college to accommodate medical marijuana use prescribed pursuant to the MMA, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act (PHRA), or the Pennsylvania Fair Educational Opportunities Act (PFEOA).

October 29, 2020), a nursing student at Harrisburg Area Community College requested an accommodation to be exempt from drug testing, based on her medical marijuana use under the MMA to treat her irritable bowel syndrome and PTSD. CARLISLE, Pa. A bang and a bright light woke up the quiet residential street. It was 1:30 a.m. in Carlisle, and a crashed car was burning.
“We were the very first to be on scene,” said Grace Snyder, an EMT with Cumberland Goodwill EMS.
Snyder is now being called a hero for her actions on the scene.
The 18-year-old has only been at Cumberland Goodwill for six months. She completed a program her senior year to get EMT-certified. The program is a partnership between Carlisle Area High School, Cumberland Goodwill EMS and Harrisburg Area Community College.

Kevin Danna called this year a “trial by fire,” officially opening his winery in the Lehigh Valley in mid-June.
“It’s all been going exceptionally well though despite these unforeseen monumental challenges,” he said in a recent email.
