Local leader made impact on community

After losing her first husband to a work-related accident in 1975, June Thornberry Raine was a working widow with children. “She was committed to making sure that her kids had the opportunity in life to succeed,” said Marty Fulkerson, Elizabethtown city councilman and a friend of Thornberry Raine. By that point, Thornberry Raine already had begun a long career in banking, and would become a formidable part of the Hardin County community. Thornberry Raine died Sunday at Atria in Elizabethtown with her family there. She was 94. According to her obituary, she was born on July 10, 1926, and married her first husband, Jimmy Thornberry, in 1949.
