WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. A man accused of at least four sexual assaults in Connecticut, appeared in Hartford Superior Court Thursday, in relation to an incident that happened in Windsor Locks on January 3rd. Police say 25-year-old Akin Warner is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in his car.

FARMINGTON The Haddam man who repeatedly stabbed himself in front of Hartford detectives Tuesday afternoon was wanted by authorities for attempting to kidnap a Red Cross employee before running her over with her own car last week, police said.
The 54-year-old victim from Cheshire was seriously injured when David O’Brien, 30, and Lauren Murphy, 31, both of Haddam, tried to kidnap her in the Red Cross parking lot off Route 4, police said Wednesday.

West Hartford, CT A West Hartford man is accused of illegally collecting Workers Compensation benefits while being employed as a state corrections officer, Connecticut Department of Criminal Justice officials said.
Hoai Le, 49, was arrested by inspectors from the Workers Compensation Fraud Control Bureau in the Office of the Chief State s Attorney on a warrant charging him with one count of fraudulent claim or receipt of benefits, one count of first-degree larceny by defrauding a public community and one count of perjury, according to DCJ officials.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit in the case, in September 2018, while working for the state Department of Correction, Le was injured while running to an emergency in an inmate housing unit.

HARTFORD, Conn Attorney General William Tong, Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle Seagull and the Connecticut Judicial Branch issued an alert urging consumers to be wary of scam callers posing as Connecticut judicial marshals demanding immediate payment of fines for missing jury duty to avoid arrest. The Office of the Attorney General said if you receive such a call it is a scam.
The office said the Connecticut Judicial Branch will never call you about jury duty or missing jury duty, and it will never ask for payment.

Oakdale The state is seeking permanent custody of eight “malnourished and severely neglected” horses seized from an Oakdale farm, according to the state Attorney General’s Office.
Laurel Ledge Farm owner Michelle Wilson, born 1957, was charged with nine counts of animal cruelty following a complaint from Montville Animal Control. She was arrested Sept. 24, 2020. Her arraignment in Norwich Superior Court is on Feb. 3.
