CAHOKIA, Ill. (KFVS) - A bill introduced on Monday, April 19 would establish Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site as a national park.
The Cahokia Mounds and Mississippian Culture National Historic Park would include mounds in Madison, St. Clair and Monroe Counties, as well as Sugarloaf Mound in St. Louis.
The park would be jointly managed between the park service and local stakeholders.

The Village of Godfrey is making plans to one day complete Glazebrook Park along Stamper Lane. The board considered an additional $205,000 for additional engineering services through Heartlands Conservancy at this week’s meeting. That measure did not pass.

Part of the plan to develop the middle of the park was to weigh the responses of a recent survey. Of the almost 630 responses, those who answered would like to see things like soccer and football fields, walking and jogging trails, a community center, a pool, dog park, and small amphitheater.
