Heartlands Conservatory and Village of Elsah Among Grant Recipients

WBGZ Radio 4/25/2021 | By Ross Pearson - WBGZ Radio Illinois American Water is doling out $29,000 in grants to organizations throughout the state in recognition of Earth Day. Two of the water shed initiatives that are grant recipients are right here in the Metro-East. Heartlands Conservancy will receive $9,865 for the Belleville Heart Garden Phase II Project and the Village of Elsah will receive a $3,275 grant for a public space project. IL American Water spokesperson Karen Cotton tells the Big Z about the Elsah project   The projects supported by the grants are expected to be completed by November 30, 2021.

Elsah among recipients of Illinois American Water environmental grants FacebookTwitterEmail The village of Elsah in the spring.File photo ELSAH The village of Elsah will receive a environmental grant in the amount of its full request from Illinois American Water (IAW), which overall awarded eight environmental grants focused on watershed initiatives across the state. Timed in celebration of Earth Day, April 22, the environmental grant recipients will receive a share of funds totaling $29,860 for community projects that improve, restore or protect watersheds. The village of Elsah will receive $3,275 to be used to create a public space that incorporates wetland restoration, stream preservation and native plantings. The funds will be used to purchase small trees, shrubs and protective supplies.
