China Airlines Ltd (CAL,中華航空) yesterday confirmed that it would temporarily reduce its cargo flight services to cope with a pilot shortage, as one-sixth of its pilots have been sidelined by a COVID-19 outbreak.
“We are working out a new schedule,” the airline said in a statement after local news media reports on Saturday said that it would be reducing its cargo services from Wednesday, primarily affecting US destinations.

Police say an airport worker had to fend off a suspect wielding a knife in an employee park and ride lot.
ATLANTA - Wednesday morning, police said officers were called out to an airport knife fight, but they say there was just one aggressor.
It happened at one of the park and ride lots at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. A contract worker had just pulled into a spot and headed off to take an airport shuttle.
Police say he noticed someone lurking by his vehicle and walked back to find the man had gotten inside.

(ATLANTA) A woman has been arrested after smuggling an estimated $40,000 worth of cocaine in seven pairs of shoes upon her return to the United States from Jamaica.
The incident occurred on Sunday, May 2, at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when a 21-year-old woman from Georgia was pulled aside for further inspection by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers after she arrived back in the United States from Jamaica.
“Upon closer examination of her bags, seven pairs of shoes were found to have a white powdery substance concealed in the shoe bottoms that field tested positive for cocaine,” CBP said in a statement regarding the case.
