Man on his way to prison escapes during stop for food near Atlanta

ATLANTA (AP) Authorities were searching Friday morning for an inmate who escaped from custody while being taken to a state prison and residents in neighborhoods south of Atlanta’s airport were being asked to lock their doors.
Devonte Detuan Ross slipped away from a private transport company at a QuikTrip where they had stopped to get him something to eat, Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill said. Ross should still be cuffed in the front with waist chains unless he has found a way to release them, the sheriff said.

April 30 (UPI) Authorities in Georgia said Friday they located and arrested a fugitive who escaped custody near the Atlanta airport while he was being transported to Arizona to face a murder charge.
The Fulton County Sheriff s Office said College Park police officers apprehended J Saan Carlos Strover after a witness said they saw him walking down a street with his hands behind his back.

A multi-jurisdictional manhunt is underway for a suspect who escaped custody at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - Authorities said the murder suspect from Arizona who escaped from deputies near the Atlanta airport and was the subject of a day-long, multi-jurisdictional manhunt is back in custody.
J saan Carlos Strover, 20, was being transported by investigators with the Maricopa County Sheriff s Office back to Phoenix Arizona to face multiple charges including murder on Thursday morning, according to the Fulton County Sheriff s Office. The Phoenix-area deputies had just returned their rental car at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and were about to board the tram from the car rental facility to the airport terminal with Strover when he took off running into a wooded area, Atlanta-area officials said.
