Atlanta airport officials allegedly catch female passenger with cocaine in shoes

A 21-year-old woman was arrested at Atlanta s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in the US for attempting to smuggle 1.3 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the soles of seven pairs of shoes, customs officials said yesterday. Shoes are made for walking and not smuggling narcotics, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said in a news release. The Georgia woman, who wasn t named, was returning from Jamaica on Sunday when agents pulled her aside for further inspection, according to the news release. It did not say why she was flagged. A woman was arrested after customs officials allegedly found cocaine stuffed in seven pairs of shoes she was carrying in luggage.(US Customs and Border Protection)

Shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, a damaging tornado was confirmed near Elberton, Georgia. It caused a warehouse to collapse, but no injuries were reported. The storm moved across the South Carolina state line, prompting tornado warnings in Abbeville County and into Greenwood, Laurens and Newberry counties. A second tornado was reported in Abbeville County about an hour later.
