College students have come up with innovative dementia-friendly ideas to transform hospital wards and make them more suitable for patients. People on the level three health and social care course at Warrington and Vale Royal College completed vital work experience as part of a project to redesign a ward for people living with dementia. The project was set up by Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in conjunction with The Cheshire and Warrington Pledge and students used Warrington Hospital’s forget me not ward – a pioneering ward providing specialist care for people living with dementia - as inspiration.
NEW data shows the scale of recruitment carried out by Halton and Warrington hospitals to ease the strain of coronavirus. NHS Digital figures show that 1,890 professionally qualified clinical staff were working at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in January – 38 more than in January 2020. There are now a total of 864 nurses and health visitors working for the trust, which is 22 more than last year, while the number of doctors has increased by 10 to 412. Other clinical workers recruited include midwives, ambulance and technical staff. Across England, the number of professionally qualified clinical staff increased by 4.2 per cent, including an extra 9,800 nurses and health visitors and 6,400 doctors.

More than 2,000 patients discharged from Warrington Hospital after beating Covid since start of pandemic WARRINGTON Hospital has reached a landmark in terms of the number of patients that have been discharged after beating coronavirus. As of this afternoon, Monday, more than 2,000 people have been allowed to leave the Lovely Lane site after recovering from Covid-19 throughout the pandemic. The great news was confirmed by Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. At present, 17 beds at the hospital are occupied by patients that have tested positive for the virus, of which one is in intensive care. This is a fall of seven patients since Friday, while the number in ICU remains the same.
