After receiving the first dose from occupational health nurse Lorraine Kenyon, 82-year-old Runcorn resident James said he was looking forward to being able to visit his grandchildren when possible. He said: “It is great news that at WHH, we are now underway with administering the vaccine to patients aged over 80 and those NHS and care home staff prioritised for the first phase of this vaccination programme.
Warrington Hospital sees Covid-19 patient numbers fall below peak of first wave THERE are fewer coronavirus patients being cared for at present at Warrington Hospital than there were during the first peak of the virus. This week has seen patient numbers steadily falling, with seven being discharged in the past 24 hours after recovering from the virus. The highest number Covid-19-positive inpatients during the first wave was on April 12, when 124 patients were receiving care, of which 18 were in intensive care. As of today, Wednesday, Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed that the Lovely Lane site is caring for 111 patients, with nine of this number in ICU

Additional trusts in covid hotspots such as Kent and London to start giving covid vaccine
A total of 18 trusts have been added to the vaccine programme, bringing the total number of hospitals up to 82
Several NHS trusts in covid hotspot areas will start receiving batches of the vaccine for the first time, according to NHS England.
Barts Health Trust, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and Bedfordshire FT are among the latest set of trusts that will start providing the covid vaccine to over 80s and health and care staff.
These three trusts all operate in tier four areas with the highest rate of covid.
A TOTAL of 84 cases of coronavirus were confirmed across Cheshire West and Chester in the latest Government reporting period. It means there has now been 10,535 positive cases in the borough since the start of the pandemic. The weekly infection rate, in the seven-day period up to December 17, now stands at more than 200 per 100,000 people, having stabilised at just over 100 as a result of the second national lockdown. Meanwhile, the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust recorded three coronavirus-related deaths in the latest 24-hour reporting period. NHS England data released this afternoon shows that the deaths sadly occurred yesterday. The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 1,111.
