The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit on Tuesday reported three more cases of coronavirus.
The additional positive tests brings the cumulative number of cases in the two counties to 1,372 since the start of the pandemic. Of those cases, 1,279 have been resolved.

According to the health unit, there are 50 active COVID-19 cases in Haldimand-Norfolk.
Meanwhile, an outbreak at Grandview Lodge in Dunnville, where four staff members had tested positive was declared over on Monday (Feb. 9). The outbreak at Dover Cliffs Long Term Care in Port Dover, where three staff members had tested positive was declared over on Sunday (Feb. 7).

Six new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit on Tuesday with no further news of the U.K. variant that was identified in the community recently.
It means there are 53 known active cases of the virus in the community where 1,237 people have had and recovered from the virus since its arrival and 38 have died.

Data on the health unit’s website shows the breakdown of cases in Haldimand: Hagersville 141; Dunnville 124; Caledonia 121; Jarvis 49; Cayuga 31;Selkirk 31; and Fisherville 9.

Public health officials in Haldimand-Norfolk are doing their best to contain all cases of COVID-19 including the recently identified case of the U.K. variant, says Dr. Shanker Nesathurai.
“At his point it’s premature to comment on how widespread this variant may be in the health district,” Nesathurai, Haldimand-Norfolk’s medical officer of health, said Monday. “But we will do our best to effect containment strategies recognizing that it’s still a challenge.
