Negotiators trying to end standoff with man barricaded in Tampa hotel

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. â The Hillsborough County Sheriff s Office s SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams are working to end a standoff at the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel Airport, located at 6902 Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa.
Dispatchers received a phone call Sunday night at 11:14 p.m. regarding a man who barricaded themselves inside of a room at the hotel.
The caller advised dispatchers the man had a firearm in his possession.

TAMPA â Guests were evacuated from a Tampa motel and roads were closed to traffic as deputies responded to a report that a man had barricaded himself inside a room there.

TAMPA, Fla. The Hillsborough County Sheriff s Office says it s investigating a possible barricade situation at the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel.
Deputies say they got a call at 11:14 Sunday night about a man inside a room at the hotel on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa. The caller told the sheriff s office the man barricaded inside had a gun, according to investigators.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff s Office says its Crisis Negotiation Team and SWAT are on the scene.
Deputies say both directions of Hillsborough Avenue between Hanley Road and Sawyer Road are shut down while they investigate.
After gunfire and an attempted arson, a tense standoff that lasted for nearly nine hours at a Hillsborough Avenue motel has ended with an "extremely agitated" man in custody, while a woman and her baby are safe.
